Hey Toronto, a lovely remix of our graceful, intelligent, eloquent, recently vegetable consuming mayor talking about us, the tax payers, and our subways.

Giving Thanks?

So, I just had a half hour debate with my mother (who, for all purposes of this post is an immigrant. She moved to Canada - first Montreal, then Toronto 5 years later, when she was 16) about immigrants in Ontario. She says that they need to adapt to how we live, I say that we need to include them in out lives. Integration and inclusion not erasure of culture.

It’s actually frustrating how not accepting she is. Despite being a woman of color, she is privileged, and sadly that overshadows any hardships she would have faced in life.

But then again, isn’t this where advocacy becomes dangerous? Who am I to stand up for the rights of people that I have no tie to. Maybe we’re both wrong.

keep me closer, i’m a lazy dancer
